The 20-year-old has been ruled out for at least two weeks after suffering a thigh strain during Shakhtar's 2-0 home victory over arch-rivals FC Dynamo Kyiv on Sunday. The Premier-Liha champions meet Arsenal in London on 19 October, both sides having won their first two Group H fixtures.
Another of Shakhtar's Brazilian midfielders, Fernandinho, has already been sidelined for the remainder of the season with a broken leg, though defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy is back in training following a hamstring injury.
